Medical Application is a mobile health app designed to help users manage their health in one place

Overview
The app provides access to medical information, online consultations, doctor appointments, health tracking, symptom and medication diaries, and smart reminders for treatments and daily routines.
Problem
Modern users are overwhelmed by fragmented healthcare services.One app is used to book doctor appointments, another to track data from wearable devices, and yet another to log symptoms or medications. As a result, health management becomes chaotic, stressful, and difficult to maintain consistently.
Goal
The goal was to create a single mobile application that brings together:
- Health monitoring;
- Wearable devices;
- Doctor consultations;
- Medication schedules;
- Daily health-related tasks.
The objective was not just to provide another medical service, but to turn health care into a clear, habitual, and lifestyle-friendly experience.
Research & Analytics
The project started with extensive research:
- In-depth interviews with users of different age groups;
- Quantitative surveys;
- Analysis of existing products and UX patterns (Telemetrix, Memorial Health System);
- Comparison between user motivation and real behavior.
Personas
Three core personas were identified and used to build key interaction scenarios:
Kerri, 40
Recovering from long-term post-COVID rehabilitation at home. She wants to regain her normal lifestyle and clearly see her progress.
Mark, 58
Maintaining health after chemotherapy. He values quality of life, spends time with family, and needs reliable medication control and access to doctors.
James, 67
Lives with chronic conditions. He wants to understand the effectiveness of treatment and struggles with small UI elements and color contrast due to reduced vision.
User Flow & Scenarios
A detailed end-to-end user flow was designed, including:
- Onboarding and profile setup;
- Device connection (smartwatches, blood pressure monitors, fitness bands);
- Daily health monitoring;
- Manual data input when needed;
- Symptom diary;
- Doctor appointments;
- Doctor chat;
- Analytics and statistics;
- Task calendar;
- Points and achievements system.
This structure created a single, logical flow where each action naturally leads to the next. I will provide one part of this huge work, my favourite one – Educational module with gamification.


Key Insights
- Manual health diaries are difficult to maintain → automation via devices is essential;
- Users aged 40+ struggle with small text → scalable typography is critical;
- Most users dislike entering medication data → a smart reminder calendar is required;
- Key tasks and metrics must be visible on the first screen without complex navigation.
These insights shaped the core concept:
The app should not feel like a “pocket hospital”, but like a daily health assistant integrated into everyday life.
Onboarding
Onboarding is designed as a short dialogue.The app asks for age, gender, height, and weight, then suggests connecting devices and selecting health focus areas such as blood pressure, sleep, activity, heart rate, hydration, and nutrition. The idea is to deliver personalization from the very first interaction, instead of a generic setup.

Home Screen
The Home screen acts as the central hub for daily interaction. It is designed to give users an instant understanding of their current health status without overwhelming them.
All key information is gathered in one place: daily progress across core metrics, reminders for upcoming tasks, contextual recommendations, and quick actions. Users can measure a value, add data manually, or open detailed charts directly from this screen. Navigation is kept intentionally simple to reduce cognitive load and support daily use.

Today’s Progress
The Today’s Progress section expands daily metrics into a more meaningful overview. Instead of displaying isolated numbers, it shows how tasks are planned, completed, or still pending throughout the day.
The experience is intentionally flexible. If a user feels unwell, they can perform an unscheduled action—such as measuring blood pressure or heart rate—and immediately add it to the system. This makes the app responsive to real-life situations, allowing health tracking to adapt to the user rather than enforcing a rigid structure.

Calendar View
Calendar View brings structure and predictability to long-term health management. It provides a clear timeline of all tasks across days and months, helping users understand their treatment and routines at a glance. Medication intake, measurements, exercises, procedures, and doctor recommendations are displayed in one unified calendar, each with clear scheduling, reminders, and completion states. For users undergoing long-term treatment, this reduces anxiety, minimizes missed actions, and reinforces a sense of control.
Custom filters allow users to focus only on relevant task types, keeping the interface clean and manageable even during intensive treatment periods.

Connected Devices
The Connected Devices section is designed to build trust between the app and physical medical hardware. Each device connection is guided by clear, step-by-step instructions, ensuring that users always understand what is happening and why.
Different device types support different health metrics, from continuously worn patches and bracelets to occasional measurement tools like thermometers or blood pressure monitors. This flexibility allows the app to automate data collection as much as possible while reducing the need for manual input.

Device Status
Once a device is connected, users can always review its current status. For wearable patches, the app displays remaining usage time, memory capacity, collected data volume, and data completeness. Bracelets provide similar insights along with battery status and time remaining before recharging.
Measurement devices show battery levels and allow users to confirm or adjust readings if data was recorded incorrectly. This transparency helps users trust both the system and their health data.

Measurement Devices
For devices used to measure specific health metrics—such as weight, body temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate—the application displays the current battery level to ensure the device is ready for use.
After each measurement, users can review the recorded data and confirm its accuracy. If a measurement was not captured correctly or failed to sync, the value can be edited or entered manually. This ensures data reliability while giving users full control over their health records.

Vitals Page
The Vitals page offers a focused overview of all tracked health metrics and the devices responsible for collecting them. It serves as a quick check-in point where users can confirm that data is being captured correctly and understand their current health state without unnecessary detail.

Questionnaires
Questionnaires are integrated into the app as a natural part of the task system. They collect subjective input such as symptoms, well-being, or emotional state—information that cannot be captured through devices alone.
By distinguishing between mandatory and optional questionnaires, the app balances medical requirements with user comfort, avoiding unnecessary pressure while still supporting clinical needs.

Gamification
Gamification in the Medical Application is intentionally subtle. Rather than competing with the user, it gently supports motivation during long or repetitive treatment journeys.
Points, visual confirmations, and progress indicators help users notice small wins and maintain consistency. This approach reduces emotional fatigue and anxiety while reinforcing positive daily habits—especially important for users in long-term rehabilitation.

Accessibility
Accessibility is a foundational part of the product. The app fully supports dynamic text scaling, and all interface components adapt seamlessly to larger font sizes without breaking layout or hierarchy.
This ensures comfort for older users and people with reduced vision, while maintaining a unified experience for all users rather than isolating accessibility as a separate mode.

Settings
The Settings section gives users full control over how the app fits into their life. Here, they can update personal information, adjust health goals, manage connected devices, configure notifications, control medical data, and set privacy preferences.
The ability to enable large text and fine-tune reminders ensures that the app remains adaptable to changing needs, physical conditions, and long-term use.

Final Thoughts
Medical Application is not just a visual concept, but a carefully designed health product where all features work together as a single system. It supports users throughout their day, adapts to age-related and physical limitations, reduces anxiety, and helps transform health care from a stressful obligation into a sustainable daily habit.
